WHO, WHAT, AND WHERE?
Out of hardship, countless trials, and a fierce determination to live. The Bone Dust Cowgirl was born. A free-spirit with a little attitude, she's got a huge heart filled with love. The Bone Dust Cowgirl, just like our Bone Dust Gallery was forged from heartaches and grace. The original BDC wears her heart on her sleeve and carries a four leaf clover for good luck. A working gal, she wears braids, a bandana, and her favorite hat to shade her from the Oklahoma sun.
Forgiven, her foot rests on a buffalo skull. Precious stones are inlaid to form the Cross and reminds her of a rock-hard faith. She is unique as every woman who wears the original BONEDUST COWGIRL brand.
Our heart is in Bonedust, Oklahoma. This state has seen hard times, drought, depression, dust-
bowl, ridicule (Okie go home!), genicide, blow-outs, oilfield busts, riots, F-5's, and bombings. We have
been knocked down, but we always get back up, and we are always a little better each time we
re-build. A second chance, re-birth, re-cycle, re-covered ......... that's what we are all about.
We are Bonedusters, Oklahoma born. Established by our dust bowl.
We try and use re-cycled stuff to make our jewelry, home decor, clothing, paintings, or anything else we
The wood on our crosses comes from old antiques that have been destroyed by water or wear. Instead of throwing it away we salvage the wood and make crosses. Some of the wood is over 100 years old.
The same thing on our tooled leather stuff. Our crosses, cuffs, and necklaces that have vintage tooled leather comes from old cowgirl purses and cowboy belts. most tooling is well over 50 years old or older. Someone put their spirit into making it. Then someone wore it or carried it until the leather fell apart. they in turn put their spirit into the leather. Then we take it from the junk pile and put it together to make crosses and cuffs.
Our buffalo skulls, bull and steer skulls are literally found on Oklahoma praries, cow pastures, ranches, oilfield sites, and other Oklahoma terrain. They are discarded things that no one else wanted. .
The only ivory we use is wooly mammoth tusk. It is all at least 10,000 years old and is beautifully colored. Blacks, Browns, Whites and every color in-between, it polishes up great. Non-regulated, it is the ultimate second-chance ivory.
The antler we prefer is moose antler shed. This type of moose antler is naturally shed every year and can be found on the forest floor. Discarded by the moose and unwanted until we gather it, cut it, grind it, carve it, in-lay into it, sand it, polish it, mount it or install jump rings into them. Found existing objects artistically crafted into our Bone Dust products.
We try to use recycled stuff making us a true Green Company. Some of our Bone Dust T-shirts are water dyed (earth friendly) on recycled military (used) t-shirts, from Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. We carefully inspect each shirt for stains and tears. Some of our recycled vintage pearle button shirts have sewn patches or are embroidered with our logos. JAMES STEPHENS JEWELRY, OkC, Bone Dust Cowgirl, Bone Dust Coyote (for men), Bone Dust Cowboy, Bone Dust Gallery, and Bone Dust Recyclers are all our logos. We are not marketers, you can tell because we built our own website, like an old quilt! We are Oklahoma-born artists. We are grateful that you have stopped by Bonedust, Oklahoma, much beauty is lost in our pictures. JAMES STEPHENS JEWELRY, OkC, needs to be seen and felt in person. The smooth textures and tight inlays in each piece are attractive to the eye and touch.
OUR CUSTOMERS WHO LOVE OUR STUFF ALL HAVE SOME OF THE SAME CHARACTERISTICS. MY BEST FRIEND IN THE WORLD, IS A BONE DUST COWGIRL, AND SOME OF MY BONEDUST JEWELRY THAT I MAKE IS OF HER DESIGN. THESE ARE SOME OF THE THINGS, THAT I HAVE OBSERVED ABOUT YOU, BONE DUST COWGIRLS.
BONE DUST COWGIRLS HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN, THEY KNOW HEARTACHE. THEY ARE SECOND -CHANCE COWGIRLS. BDC's GET KNOCKED DOWN, BUT THEY ALWAYS GET BACK UP. THEY HAVE KNOWN DEMONS AND ANGELS, AND THEY FINALLY GOT OFF THE CRAZY TRAIN. BONE DUST COWGIRLS ONLY HAVE GOOD THINGS IN THEIR SADDLEBAGS. BONE DUST COWGIRLS TAKE A LONG TIME TO "BREAK". BDC'S HAVE GUARDIAN ANGELS AND BELIEVE IN MIRACLES.
ALL HANDMADE WESTERN JEWELRY DESIGNED AND CREATED BY JAMES STEPHENS. JAMES STEPHENS JEWELRY, OKC
